With weeks to explore some of the most clear and amazing ice surfaces I've ever seen and arctic peaks in all directions catching the nightly aurora, these Yukon backcountry excursions this past October would go on to be some of the most photographically rewarding I have ever lead, despite immense logistical challenges. Here, near our wilderness camp, I employed a focus-merging technique at 3am to allow me to position the camera extremely low angle to the clear cracks and see right through the reflective surface. The aurora, fortunately, remained much in the same position through my exposures. Photo © copyright by Marc Adamus.
